Dyeing Fabric

      Dyeing is my impulsive use of creativity.  Dye safety is an absolute.  I use gloves and a respirator mask.  I label my containers.   I dye fabric in the early spring or late fall. This last spring I tried ice dying mandalas and smaller batches of fabrics.        I have dyed fabric for many years.  Recently, my dyeing has branched out printing with soy wax and using flour as a resist.

A Lifetime of Creativity

      I started quilting more than 20 years ago hoping it would keep me entertained.  Its such a versatile craft.  I mused I could applique, piece, embroider, and machine quilt anything I wanted.   and then .... I started dying fabric designing my own unpublished patterns and taking pictures leading up to portrait quilts.          I am a teacher by nature and love children.  Especially the wonders of the 6 year old child.  I enjoy there honesty though sometimes too candid, their compassion, and sense of wonder and curiosity.          This begins my journey as a portrait artist.  I had always had this opinion who would want a portrait of another child and came to the conclusion it's not just the child.
